The easiest way to use your phone less

GrettaSeptember 27, 2022

If you're anything like me, one of your biggest time managment struggles is using your phone more than you want to.

The ONLY WAY I've found that actually works to decrease my phone time (and I've tried so, so many ways for 6 years) is this:

If you don't want to be on your phone, put it in another room. Preferably the room that's farthest away from where you spend your lounging time (probably your couch). You may want to decide ahead of time when you'll put your phone away.

Bonus points if the room farthest away is either upstairs or downstairs because the goal is to make it hard and annoying if you want to go grab your phone.

My rule is: if my phone is sitting by me, I don't expect myself not to use it. It's just not fair to me or my brain stem that these apps target πŸ™‚ (seriously, that's why it feels so out of control - those apps are literally designed to target the automatic part of your brain.)

So before you get frustrated and beat yourself up over using those apps more than you want understand why you're doing it in the first place (they are literally designed to suck you in for hours and hours), and start being more intentional with your phone and your brain πŸ™‚

See you for next week's Time Tip Tuesday,
Gretta
